Self Incrimination

Autumn: “I did what you didn’t tell me to do”
Dad: “What?”
Autumn: “What you didn’t tell me to do!”
Dad: (confused) “What?”
Autumn walks into her bedroom and points to the closet door “What you didn’t tell me to do”
It then became clear she was referring to the Strawberry Shortcake poster that she had asked me several weeks ago to put on her door. I had refused to let her do so.
About a week after that, while I was at work she asked her mother. Jill gave her some tape and sent her off to hang it herself.
Apparently not until this morning did it occur to her to make it clear to me that she had “done what i didn’t tell her to”
I said “You mean you did what I told you not to do”
Autmn: “Yes!”
